Trains HO/OO Gauge

The OO scale was originally introduced by Bing in 1921 as The Table Railway. The variation between OO and HO is mostly due to British trains being smaller than their European and American counterparts. The issue being that the clockwork mechanisms used in the 1920’s were too large to fit within an HO scale British outline locomotive. Hence Bing modified the scale slightly to accommodate the mechanism. OO has a scale of 4 mm = 1 foot (1:76) running on HO scale 1:87 (3.5 mm = 1 foot) track (16.5 mm/0.650″). This resulted in the majority of British models being in OO while European and American models are HO scale.

Hornby, Dublo, Tri-ang have their own categories in this site while all the other makers are referenced in this general category of HO/OO Gauge Trains.
