Description
A Piggy Bank Plastic Football Bank of New South Wales South Melbourne VFL Swans.
Very good condition with some signs of wear and tear. This is a single use design, so many of these will have been returned to the bank for the coins to be added to an account and the football would have been destroyed to get them out.
Embossed on the front surface is “Bank of New South Wales Savings Bank Limited”. The rear upper face includes information regarding returning it to the bank when full. Around the base the manufacturer is identified as Australian Polytainers (Reg’d).
The front sticker does have some marks but is complete. The stickers were varied for the different teams in different states. This one is for a Victorian Football Association (VFA, later VFL) club South Melbourne. It helps us date this to either 1960’s or 1970’s at the latest. South Melbourne moved to Sydney in 1981/1982 and changed their name to the Sydney Swans.
