A State Bank Victoria Plastic World Globe Savings Bank Money Box in good condition. Estimated as c1980 issue.

This is a reusable design but needs a key to unlock the base. This example has been tampered with and the top coin slot is missing part of the plastic that should retain the coins, basically the slot has been widened to allow retrieval, but this has not damaged the presentation.

This money box is branded as ‘MK’ Made in Finland by Tresmer OY. Various searches show that this money box style of the world globe was used by many different banks in Europe, England and the USA. In each case it is clearly focussed on the northern hemisphere, noting that despite being issued for an Australian bank, you need to turn it on its side and check in the most obscure part of the globe to find the Australian island.
